VIEW PROJECT
SUMMARY
Create 3 different concepts and cover design submissions for Morehead State University's art magazine: Inscape. My goal was to created a wide variety of work where some of the covers could also be used as submissions for the interior. The magazine was required to be submitted with as a packaged InDesign zip file. The Inscape logo was also required to be put onto the back of the cover.
SOFTWARE USED
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
DURATION
2 weeks

#1
COVER DESIGN 1: HAND FRAME
My first concept for these covers began with my idea of using hands on the cover. Searching for a point of relation among all of the artwork and writing that is showcased in this magazine every year, I landed with an action - Hand Framing. Every artist, writer, designer, all has control over their work and these "directors hands" communicate the power that is held by the student's working creative mind.
Take "Action" with your work, it's your initative!

COVER DESIGN 2: COSMIC TEA
My second concept for these covers took a completely different approach. I wanted to create something whimsicle with my own original illustration. I sought after combining stars and liquid into one, which led to my concept being based around "Cosmic Tea". I also created my own typeface for the title, creating around the idea of galaxies and movement.

COVER DESIGN 3: UNLOCK INSCAPE
Since both of my previous designs felt more illustration based, I wanted to go a different direction, choosing to do something that was more layout based. I was inspired by keys, creating a concept where when you open the magazine, you unlock all of the student work that is inside. The title is "Unlock Inscape", where I also used the Inscape logo as the base of the key, as it wraps around from the back to the front of the magazine. The front has an opening where the key is inserted to "unlock" the magazine.
