SONIC & THE SECRET RINGS -
The White Of Sky
The first collaborative song for this project I choose is for the game: Sonic & The Secret Rings (2007). I have a deep appreciation for the music in this game, especially the mid-eastern influence the game contains. I choose a more storybook art style in my illustration to mimic the cutscenes you see during the game.
Everything was drawn in Photoshop besides the typography, which was done in Illustrator. This song is entirely in english:

VALORANT -
Casa De Vidro
This song is from the game: VALORANT (2020). Casa De Vidro directly translates to "House of Glass". The featured character I chose for this illustration is Phoenix, who can turn his entire body into flames. The song is extremely reminiscent and melancholic, reflecting on past memories. I choose this imagery of flames as they disipate into the atmosphere, reflecting these lost emotions.
This was illustrated in Photoshop besides the typography, which was done in Illustrator. This song is entirely in Portuguese:

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS K/DA -
MORE
This song is from the game: League of Legends (2009). MORE is a song created by an in-game pop group using playable characters inside of the game. This group is called K/DA. Following the iridecent theme of the song and the imagery of the characters, I choose pastel colors, bold typography, and crystal-like textures. The original song was released in 2020.
This was illustrated in Photoshop and then brought into Ilustrator for the layout design. This song is sung in English, Korean, and Mandarin:

PERSONA 3 RELOAD -
Memories Of You
This song is from the game: Persona 3 Reload(2024). This a remake of the original game, Persona 3, which was released in 2006. This song is played during the ending credits of the game, showcasing the leftover memories of the main character. The black ribbon is a signature accessory for the main character, so I wanted to display it's significance on the design. I was extremely impressed by the typography in the game, and tried to emulate it in my own way. The negative and positive space of just black and white was extremely fun to solve as well.
The ribbon was illustrated in Photoshop, all of the other assets were created in Illustrator. This song is entirely in Japanese.

GENSHIN IMPACT -
Devastation & Redemption
This song is from the game: Genshin Impact (2020). Devastation & Redemption is a Chinese Opera and it is sung by Yang Yang (杨扬) of the Shanghai Jingju Theatre Company. During my research, I learned that Chinese Opera is typically revolved around storytelling. In this story, a young warrior girl barely escapes death. She is found by an adepti (a god), who then raises her to fight. She becomes unwaivered by battle and has to learn to become herself again. I took inspiration from classic Chinese Opera signage and from cutscenes inside of the game.
This project was created in Photoshop. The song is entirely in Mandarin.
